Quarterly Business Review

My Dear Employees,
Let me start our quarterly business review by thanking you for your diligent efforts, which helped us to post our largest quarterly operating profit in the last three years.
We reported 2nd quarter operating profit of $17.6 million which is 23% of Sales. This indicates a gain of 1% from the previous quarter and a significant gain of 5% over the 2nd quarter of 2010. Over this period, we maintained the same workforce, which also indicates how you raised your performance when it matters the most. The encouraging sign for business is the improved total sales of $78 million in this quarter. The Sales are mainly generated from our customers in Asia and this trend will continue. Internally, we all managed to keep Fixed Costs at the same level resulting in improved operating profit.
Let’s discuss about forecast of Sales and OP. As the market continues to be volatile, we may see lower Sales and OP going forward. We certainly have survived the recession but the current market still doesn’t allow us the consistent growth. So, let us continue with the same diligent and committed efforts to maintain our edge in the industry.

My US-Visa was already rejected once, here I am again, the second time. No doubt I was nervous and then officer called me. It seemed going well and he asked last one, twice, which I couldn’t get. Relying my phonics ability, I replied “yes”, he said “that’s great”… granted US-Visa.

Annual Safety Day

My Dear Colleagues,

We will be getting together on our annual Safety Commitment day to step back from our routine operations and think of how we can add or identify safety to our routine jobs.

During the visit of Director of Global Safety we spoke about the need to stay focused on safety and how even the simplest task can lead to an injury when not focused.  This year in XYZ we have had two such incidents where lack of momentary focus and lack of hazard recognition resulted in injuries. This reminds us how quickly an event can happen and how we need to be vigilant at all times.

This week in XYZ’s Europe location, an incident occurred while an associate was moving heavy products in a cart.  An obstruction caused the cart to tip and the associate, attempting to prevent the products from falling, ended up with a wrist fracture.  During our Safety Commitment day this issue will be covered in more detail.  It is again a reminder of how we need to always be focused on our tasks and the potential hazards that may exist while we are doing them.

I fully recognize that the plants are very busy and there is always pressure to do it quickly.  I am asking each of you to always remember that safety is the priority and condition of our job. For our Safety Commitment day I encourage you to bring more ideas that will make our workplace safer.

Conclusion: Social Media-Benefits and Risk

At XYZ, social media is becoming preeminet force at work and we understand the benefits of leveraging the use of social media. If we do not embrace this then there will be an opportinity cost associated with it. As any other company, XYZ is evaluating the risk versus benefit with social media implementation. As the market trend and measurement indicates that social media is the key element in enhancing innovation, employee engagement, customer interaction and feedback, and brand advertisement. XYZ is very open to exposure to social media tools and at the same time want to be careful of the risks that comes with it.

The typical risks are infection from malicious programs outside the company settings and privacy concerns of company's assets and financial data. XYZ want employees to follow proper IT guidelines while implementing or utilizing social media tools which will help us manage the the success from these tools responsibly

Good Day New York with Greg Kelly and Rosanna Scotto

Not to publicize Fox 5 news channel, but I always listen the duo of Greg Kelly and Rosanna Scotto on morning news and liked it because they keep me engaged.
It is not all about the latest news around the town or country but the way the news being told that keeps me engaged. Few things that make this duo popular is their voice, their impromptu complement to each other, and sharing their own experiences regarding the news. I think many news anchors has a great voice which is their distinguished quality so does this duo has. During news and in between news, they add their own material in the context of the news which I think a great quality for a story teller or a leader in an organization. Also, they add their own experiences in the context of the news which also adds a flare to the program.
I would learn impromptu adjustments in my speech and adding my own experiences appropriately to make my communication more influential.
